Performance’s evening with Omni Zona Franca at Aluna Art Foundation

Saturday February 21ST at 7:00pm

The Contemporary Sisyphus drags his stone throughout the city is the theme of “Architectures/Humanity”, the new performance work by Luis Eligio and Kizzy from the  Omni Zona Franca Collective; a work  inspired by the topics of “Affective Arquitectures”, the current exhibition at Aluna.

Created in Cuba in the last decade, The Omni ZonaFranca collective is recognized for his experimentation and art mixing, as well as for their critical visions of the social environment.

Entrance: $10.00. A fundraising event in benefit of Omni Zona Franca.

Live Talk at Pinta Art Fair 2022 | Textile Art: Spinning the Political with Ancestral Practices

This PINTA TALK featuring fiber artist Pip Brant, Aurora Molina and Evelyn Politzer is moderated by Adriana Herrera PhD, cofounder of Aluna Art Foundation. They will discuss politically-charged fiber arts and ways of exploring the relationship between gender, history, and fiber ancestral traditions and its connection with contemporary textile art.

Zoom Talk | Threading the City’s virtual panel discussion

The Circularity of Textile Time features art historian and Pre-Columbian Art experts Carol Damian, Ph.D., and Shelley Burian, Ph.D., moderated by Adriana Herrera, Ph.D. The discussion will explore the relationship between pre-Hispanic textiles and modern fiber art and examine the living presence of indigenous art not only in contemporary artists who are direct descendants of native peoples, but also in other Latin American artists, including some Miami artists who work with fiber.
