Performance Workshop at Aluna Art Foundation. November 2nd, 2015

Cuban artist Angel Delgado will be presenting an intensive Performance Art Workshop (in Spanish) at Aluna Art Foundation facilities from November 17th to 28th, 2015.

Delgado is a multidisciplinary artist with a long career in performances, which include historical works like “Hope is the last thing that’s missing”. To conclude this workshop, students will be invited to present their performance at Aluna Art Foundation.

This PINTA TALK featuring fiber artist Pip Brant, Aurora Molina and Evelyn Politzer is moderated by Adriana Herrera PhD, cofounder of Aluna Art Foundation. They will discuss politically-charged fiber arts and ways of exploring the relationship between gender, history, and fiber ancestral traditions and its connection with contemporary textile art.

Zoom Talk | Threading the City’s virtual panel discussion

The Circularity of Textile Time features art historian and Pre-Columbian Art experts Carol Damian, Ph.D., and Shelley Burian, Ph.D., moderated by Adriana Herrera, Ph.D. The discussion will explore the relationship between pre-Hispanic textiles and modern fiber art and examine the living presence of indigenous art not only in contemporary artists who are direct descendants of native peoples, but also in other Latin American artists, including some Miami artists who work with fiber.

Florida Humanities and the National Endowments for the Humanities supports educational programing during Threading the City, a series of fiber art exhibits across Miami.
