Aluna Art Foundation cordially invites you to “OF FRAGILE THINGS: ARCHITECTURE AND DESIRE (Salvadorean Artists in Perspective II)”. Curated by Aluna Curatorial Collective (Adriana Herrera & Willy Castellanos). An Aluna Art Foundation Exhibition at Pinta Miami 2016.

The exhibition gives continuity to several processes of investigation done by Aluna Curatorial Collective and includes a select group of artists born in El Salvador: Ronald Morán, who lives and works there, and Beatriz Cortez and Muriel Hasbun, who have migrated to the United States.

The notion of architecture is approached from the invisible: the constructions of desire, or the projection of the structures that shape the world in ways that are impossible or vulnerable. The curatorship works as an open construction that helps us better understand the fragility of the world we live in.

This PINTA TALK featuring fiber artist Pip Brant, Aurora Molina and Evelyn Politzer is moderated by Adriana Herrera PhD, cofounder of Aluna Art Foundation. They will discuss politically-charged fiber arts and ways of exploring the relationship between gender, history, and fiber ancestral traditions and its connection with contemporary textile art.

Zoom Talk | Threading the City’s virtual panel discussion

The Circularity of Textile Time features art historian and Pre-Columbian Art experts Carol Damian, Ph.D., and Shelley Burian, Ph.D., moderated by Adriana Herrera, Ph.D. The discussion will explore the relationship between pre-Hispanic textiles and modern fiber art and examine the living presence of indigenous art not only in contemporary artists who are direct descendants of native peoples, but also in other Latin American artists, including some Miami artists who work with fiber.
